Ads with sound hit Xbox 360 dashboard

Well, how’s this for a slap in the face? It looks like ads that have sound incorporated into them have come to the Xbox 360 dashboard. As you can see in the video above, the ad appears in a tile, and if you bring that tile into primary view, sound automatically plays - even if you don’t select the ad. That’s pretty low, considering you paid for the console, paid for the games, and more than likely, pay $50 a year for an Xbox LIVE Gold subscription. Here’s hoping that Silverlight in the Xbox 360 Fall 2009 dashboard update doesn’t bring even more advertising with it.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time remake footage
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Action, Konami, Rumors, Xbox 360, Xbox Live Arcade
So, why are we unable to contain our current excitement level? Well, as evidenced by the video above, an updated version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time is currently in development, and if you didn’t know, this is one of the best side-scrolling brawlers of all time. Originally released for the SNES, Turtles in Time allowed players to join up in a Double Dragon fashion, taking control of their favorite turtle, and it worked really well. Check out the video above to see the updated title in action on the Xbox 360. This one should be hitting the Xbox Live Arcade soon enough, but we don’t have any information on a date. Needless to say, it can’t come soon enough.
Real life, live action Mario Kart

Ever wonder how it might look if Mario grabbed a go cart and started speeding down your local highway? You’ve gotta check out the YouTube video above, produced by Remi Gaillard. Once he started chucking banana peels, we were rolling. Seriously, take a look, it’s worth a laugh.

Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix trailer

Let’s hope this is a sign that the game is close to release (hey, they said November!). Above you’ll find the trailer for Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix. While the music isn’t quite what we would think would get people pumped for the game, you can’t say that the graphics aren’t off the hook. This one will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and the Playstation Store later this month. Who’s with me on picking this one up the day it becomes available?
Video: Wii commercial parody

Okay, we gotta hand it to these guys - when you put it like this, I guess Wii really can seem lame. Unfortunately, a lot of games utilize similar mechanics as are found in this parody. However you feel about Nintendo‘s money-making machine, this one is definitely good for a laugh.

As with the Microsoft conference before it, I was confined to my hotel Wi-Fi to take in Nintendo’s E3 press conference. But, unlike Microsoft’s, I’m walking away thoroughly and utterly disappointed. I’m going to go ahead and spoil part of the full story from after the break: there was no mention of Smash Bros. being online. Me = worried much.
Set your expectations low before you view the rest after the break.

Tons Of Crackdown Content Coming
Posted by Chris Pereira Categories: Action, Xbox 360, Xbox Live, Xbox Live Marketplace

As if your Crackdown disc didn’t already have enough worth – it’s your key into the Halo 3 beta, after all – Microsoft and developer Real Time Worlds are planning on releasing nothing short of a mammoth load of content for the game. Through a combination of a title update and two content packs – one free, and one premium – there will be plenty of reasons to keep Crackdown in your 360 drive long after the Halo 3 beta ends.
Before getting into this laundry list of content, one nifty feature that has been implemented is basically a “try before you buy” system. Join up in a co-op game with someone that owns the “Getting’ Busy Bonus Pack” (the name of the 800 Microsoft Point premium content pack) and you’ll temporarily be given full access to everything included in the pack.

Ghostbusters Game In The Works? Maybe…
Posted by Michael Cardiff Categories: Mods/Hacks, Rumors, Trailers, Xbox 360
Whether it be a mod of Gears of War, a dedicated fan, or a pitch for a game that never came to be, these videos on YouTube have us wanting more… and remind me that I should go back and watch the original Ghostbusters again. Chances are we’ll never see this game on a console, but we can dream, can’t we?
The videos on YouTube feature some Gears-style 3rd-person gameplay, some very nicely lit driving movies and what look like tests of the Bill Murray character model. Be sure to click the jump for the rest of the videos!
