Angry Birds on the PS3 and PSP this week
Posted by Patrick Lambert Categories: Casual, PlayStation 3, PSP, Puzzle, Wii, Xbox 360,
The PlayStation Blog tells us that one of the most popular iOS game is coming to the PS3 and PSP this week. Angry Birds will feature 63 levels and be playable on the console. Classified as a 'mini' game, this means that it will likely not be on the scale of a full console release, and instead most likely look a lot like its iOS counterpart. Still, while many developers port console or PC games to the iPhone, this is a rare case of the reverse, where after being so immensely popular on Apple's platform, they are now expanding to other systems. Rovio, the company behind Angry Birds, announced that we will see the game on Xbox 360 and Wii soon also.

Developer claims to have PSP2 in-house
Posted by John Kilhefner Categories: Portable/Mobile, PSP, Rumors, Sony,
While Sony has made sure to carefully tip toe around any questioning concerning a possible PlayStation Portable successor, Netherrealm Studios Executive Producer Shaun Himmerick revealed to Industry Gamers that they “have a PSP2 in the house and we’re looking at the engine, like what can it support.”
Himmerick went on to describe a few key details about the PSP2’s power. “Always a big thing for us is the performance,” he added. “We’re running at 60 fps, what can we do and do we have to build all the art assets over. We’re definitely looking at them. PSP2 looks like it’s a pretty powerful machine.”
While Sony is mum on the subject, it seems that the PSP2 is a reality. However, since no official specs have been released, the power and functionality of the machine is pure speculation at this point.

PSP Go launches October 1, $250
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: E3, Hardware, Portable/Mobile, PSP, Sony,
The PSP Go will be launching in North America and Europe on October 1 at a price of $249.99, as announced by Sony at their E3 2009 Media Briefing. Those in Japan will have to wait an extra month, as the system goes on sale there on November 1. Deemed the “worst-kept secret of E3,” the PSP Go is over 50% smaller, and 40% lighter, than the original PSP. It includes 16GB of on-board memory, built-in Wifi, integrated Bluetooth, a Memory Stick Micro slot, and most importantly, it drops the UMD drive. If $250 isn’t too rich for your blood, the PSP Go is yours in four months.

Dragonball Evolution game coming to the PSP, Chow Yun Fat is delightfully floral
Posted by Alex Lifschitz Categories: Action, Fighting, Portable/Mobile, PSP, Release Dates,
For those of you who haven’t been following Hollywood’s latest attempt to make movies out of franchises it knows nothing about, Dragonball: Evolution is a live action movie based on the manga/anime of the same name. Well, in a situation eerily similar to the curious case of Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game (in which we all got to live out our fantasies of controlling a pixelated Jean Claude Van Damme), it looks like a game adaptation is coming to the PSP in April.
To satisfy the level of abstraction requisite for this kind of thing, Yamcha will be playable as a friendly panda, who fights against Cell, who will be voiced by that dude who put his snot in everything on The Real World a few years back. Brought to you by guys who haven’t watched cartoons since the Carter administration.

Okay, PSP and PS3’ers, take note…and start saving your pennies now. Why? Because at CES, Sony announced that their 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo will hit stores in March. That’s right, 16GB, four times more the highest capacity Pro Duo currently available. That’s way more photos, music, videos, ISOs,
movies and pure fun than ever. The downside? The storage card will cost a whopping $300 USD—more than a PSP itself. Worth it? You make the call.

EA Shutting Down Servers For Madden 06, NBA Live 06, And More
Posted by Chris Pereira Categories: Action, Driving, Electronic Arts, PC, PlayStation 2, PSP, Sports, Xbox, Xbox 360,
People always ask, “Why buy the newest Madden game? They’re all the same.” Well, here’s one very cut-and-dry reason you can use to explain: because, eventually, these game’s servers get taken down. EA is planning to take down 42 games’ servers on September 1 (although many of these are the same game across multiple platforms), and an additional seven on November 1. This isn’t a new trend, as there’s a sizable list of servers for EA games that have gone offline over time.
Apparently there really is a reason to pick up that newest Madden.

E3 2007: The Big Three: Who “Won” E3?
Posted by Edie Sellers Categories: Casual, Corporate News, E3, Editorial, Hardware, Microsoft, Nintendo, Nintendo DS, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PSP, Wii, Xbox 360,
It always seems a bit silly to declare a “winner” of E3. It’s just so juvenile. This is a complex industry that can’t be distilled down to the simple question of “who beat whom.”
But we just can’t help it, can we?
Comparing the three keynotes this year, however, really is a grab-bag of possible outcomes. All three offered something interesting, and picking a single “winner” this year more than ever depends how you define “winning.”
My rundown is after the break.

I’m going to come right out and say it: I’m coming away from Sony’s presentation more impressed than I was either Nintendo’s or Microsoft’s. They were very straightforward and showed exactly what we all wanted to see: the games.
In fact, this was one of the more impressive E3 press conferences in recent memory – check inside to find out why.

The Min-E3 2007 Games Lineup

Sure, the convention is much smaller this year and all, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t a ton of games to be seen. Eurogamer has posted a list of the announced lineups and then some of what you’ll be seeing at E3. Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony have been quiet on what they’ll be showing, so it looks like we’ll need to wait until their respective showings to know for sure. The event is taking place next week, so expect it to be a busy week in news.
But please, please, please, Nintendo, show me Animal Crossing Wii. Something. Anything. Please?
