Get ready Lost Planet fans, the third round is on its way. Capcom, the makers of such fine games as Resident Evil and Devil May Cry, has just hit us with a new cinematic trailer for the upcoming Lost Planet 3. The company has announced that the release date will be early 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, and has announced the name of the main protagonist. Meet Jim, a Utility Rig operator whose job occasionally involves killing a very large, angry akrid. Lost Planet 3 returns to the extreme conditions of the first title, while introducing new gameplay elements and characters. Not many other details have been released, but we expect to hear more at E3. We've got the trailer after the break.

Some big name titles are hitting this week, including the much anticipated The Darkness for both Xbox 360 and PS3. Transformers is bound to be a big seller by virtue of its name and the number of platforms that it’s coming out on. And Pokemon Battle Revolution for Wii is going to sell a scientifically accurate 1,432,345^100, or in other words, a metric crapton.

Microsoft Japan Offers Lost Planet Bundle

When Lost Planet: Extreme Condition launches in Japan in December, Microsoft will offer a hardware bundle that includes the game, Xbox 360 console, 20GB hard drive, wireless controller, HD AV cable, remote, a 3 month subscription to Xbox Live, and a card that will allow gamers to download an additional stage for Lost Planet. The bundle will retail for 44800 Yen ($381 US). This, put together with the Blue Dragon bundle shows that Microsoft is trying hard to penetrate the Japanese market. The Lost Planet bundle seems to be less of a draw, however, and one wonders if this will drive that many more console sales.
