Fat Princess coming to PSN imminently
Posted by Brandon Gribin Categories: Action, Downloadable Content, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, Release Dates
That’s right, mark your calendar because Fat Princess is hitting the PlayStation Network tomorrow, Thursday, July 30th for $14.99.
Fat Princess is a capture-the-flag style game where one team’s goal is to get the princess to its base - a castle - and the other team’s goal is to… fatten the princess up by feeding her! And naturally - the fatter the princess is, the more difficult it will be to get her to the castle.
The gameplay appears solid - and hilarious.

For fans of the WWE wrestling game series, Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 is set to get some DLC, a first for the series if we aren’t mistaken. You’ll be able to download a few new wrestlers sports entertainers, plus you’ll finally get to dress Chris Jericho up in his new spandex attire that he has been sporting for the last few months. For those wondering, no, Randy Orton’s new hideous tattoos aren’t included, thankfully. Here’s what you get if you are on the Xbox 360, for 400 Microsoft Points:
- Ted DiBiase Jr.
- Charlie Haas
- Evan Bourne

But guess what? If you are on the Playstation 3, you get some extra goodness. For $4.99, you get all of the above, plus:

Rock Band Disc Export Title Update Goes LIve
Posted by Alex Lifschitz Categories: Downloadable Content, Electronic Arts, Music, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
Rejoice, ye fans of backwards compatibility! Harmonix has just released the title update for Rock Band that will allow players to export the first game’s song list into Rock Band 2 at their leisure. 55 of the songs are slated to have the ability to transfer over (“Run To The Hills”, “Paranoid”, and “Enter Sandman” are exempt) - you just pay 5 semolians, follow the instructions, and the songs are then burned to your HDD as any other DLC song would. Plus, you can also delete individual songs, if there are some you didn’t particularly care for. Personally, after being forced to play “In Bloom” into eternity during the first game, I’ll take that as a very welcome addition.
Rock Band is slated to have over 500 songs available for download and play by the year’s end, which is relatively unprecedented. Where they’re going from Rock Band 2 is anybody’s guess, but there have been some rumblings about a music creation system in the works (though Guitar Hero: World 2 seems to have that base covered already).
PixelJunk Monsters Encore expansion set for May
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Casual, Downloadable Content, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Network, Puzzle, Release Dates

I’ve recently been playing the hell out of PixelJunk Monsters, a game that we feel is one of the shining stars of the Playstation Store. If you haven’t yet tried it, seriously, go download it. The 2D strategy game is something that we almost can’t stop playing once we start. This is why we are happy to hear that Q Games has made it known that the first expansion pack for the game, titled PixelJunk Monsters Encore, is set to drop on May 1. We can expect a new island, called “Toki,” which will feature an additional 15 levels, as well as a little bit of housecleaning behind the scenes to the overall game mechanics. Even better still, the expansion will include five new songs by Otograph.
Visually, there are a few tweaks here and there that we can expect - weather effects, new tree shapes, and a few other small upgrades. Nothing over the top.
No word yet on pricing details, but this is DLC for a fairly inexpensive game, so it shouldn’t cost much.

Aerosmith tracks exclusive to Guitar Hero, not hitting Rock Band
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Activision, Downloadable Content, Music, Politics

Looks like artist music is going to start becoming exclusive to specific brands, as it has been made public through Activision PR that all Aerosmith tracks are going to be exclusive to Guitar Hero. What this means is that, no matter how good the Rock Band Store gets (and it is very good), you will never see any more Aerosmith tracks appearing in that franchise. Sure, Rock Band owners do get one Aerosmith track, that being “Train Kept a Rollin,” but seriously, that is just a drop in the bucket.
What we are wondering is, as these music/rhythm-based games continue to flourish, how many other artists are going to sign on for the exclusive? What do you guys think?

New Guitar Hero II DLC: My Chemical Romance Pack
Posted by Paul Hamilton Categories: Downloadable Content, Music, Xbox 360

Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 is getting some additional downloadable content this week in the form of a three-song pack, this time from a single band: My Chemical Romance. The included songs are “Famous Last Words,” “Teenagers” and “This is How I Disappear,” which will be available for 500 Microsoft Points.
Single-band packs seem to make more sense than the grab bag of the first couple DLC options, but the price point hasn’t changed from the oft-maligned $6.25 level.
