Hey Wii U owners, if you're looking to round out your Mario-themed Wii Remote collection, the new Princess Peach Wii Remote Plus is set to hit stores next week. As you can see, the Peach Wiimote is pink on the front, with a darker pink on back, with a gold D-pad, white A button, and blue accents with the Peach logo. It matches up nicely with the Mario and Luigi Wii Remotes that were previously released, and has us wondering where the heck the Toad version is. You can grab the Peach Wii Remote Plus on April 24th for $40.

Sony cautions gamers that their controllers may explode
Posted by John Kilhefner Categories: Corporate News, Hardware, PlayStation 3, Sony,
Sony is warning consumers of knock-off controllers that look identical to the first party controllers, as they may be prone to exploding or igniting.
“SCEA advises consumers to be cautious when buying PlayStation 3 wireless controllers from uncertain sources as the quality, reliability and safety of counterfeit products is uncertain, and in some cases, may be dangerous. It is possible that some counterfeit product may ignite or explode, resulting in injury or damage to the user, your PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, or other property,” warned Sony.
Whoever is manufacturing these counterfeits has brought new meaning to controller vibration. Al Qaeda, is that you?

Official Final Fantasy XIV PC Controller
Posted by John Kilhefner Categories: MMORPG, PC, Role Playing Games,
Sunflex created this official Final Fantasy XIV controller licensed by Sqaure Enix for use by PC aficionados. It is definitely inspired from the same aesthetic as Sony’s PlayStation controllers, albeit it has a bit of a boomerang look to it. However, while you could just as easily play with a less awkwardly designed Xbox 360 controller, the PlayStation look is definitely more traditionally acceptable for a Final Fantasy game, no? you can pick up the controller alongside the release of the game, which happens on September 30th.

Xbox 360 wireless controller with transforming D-Pad coming November 9th
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Hardware, Release Dates, Xbox 360,
Microsoft is set to release a newly redesigned Xbox 360 wireless controller with a transforming D-Pad this November. It’s no secret that the D-Pad on the Xbox 360 isn’t exactly popular with gamers, so the company supposedly went back to the drawing board, and came up with a D-Pad can be changed from disc-form to “plus” form just by turning the D-Pad itself. In addition to that change, the controller also has concave analog sticks, matte silver color, and gray A, B, X, Y buttons as well.
The catch? While the controller seems like it would be awesome, you can only get it as part of the new Play & Charge Kit which will be available on November 9th for $64.99. Yeah, even if you don’t need another Play & Charge Kit, that’s the only way you’ll be getting this controller, as Microsoft won’t be making it available as a standalone product. $64.99. Microsoft is definitely doing all they can to get more money out of Xbox users these days.

Krator teases new Guitar Hero controller
Posted by Alex Lifschitz Categories: Accessories, Music, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360,
Ever see a game peripheral so classy that you have to put your pants through an extra wash cycle?
Speaker company Krator recently released pictures of the unreleased Krator Orpheus WG-07 controller for Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and dear god is that hot. Look at that inlay! It’s apparently made out of metal and aluminum, offers a range of 10 meters wirelessly, and works for the PC and PS3, but nothing further has been released about the guitar or when it might go on sale. Not that I need it or anything. My Guitar Hero skills are stuff of legend and have been documented by the health department to be the number three cause of teen pregnancy.

GEN-X NES/Genesis Game System
Posted by Sheila Franklin Categories: Nintendo, Retro, SEGA,
This has to be the ultimate gift for anyone who couldn’t get over their first game system. The GEN-X plays both old Nintendo and Sega Genesis games, including Japanese imports, in stereo (depending on the game.) Included controllers work with either system after you have connected it to your TV. At a size of 17 x 15 x 4cm, the GEN-X Game System will set you back $39.99. By the way, the site cautions you about cleaning the contacts on old games and we know for a fact that if you use a gentle metal brush with a gentle hand, it will make Sonic and Mario positively gleeful.

Xbox 360 controller soap replica
Posted by Andru Edwards Categories: Culture, Xbox 360,
If you’ve always wanted to game while in the shower, this one is an interesting compromise. Digitalsoaps on Etsy has put together a ridonkulous Xbox 360 controller soap bar. The best part? It looks awesome. The bar of soap looks just like your typicaly chill-colored Xbox 360 controller, with rised buttons, analog sticks, and control pad. The bar of soap weighs in at seven ounces, and is scented with Mountain Dew fragrance oil - gotta keep it real. You can grab your own Xbox 360 controller soap bar for $12 on Etsy.

Using Unlicensed Cables, Controllers Voids Your PS3 Warranty (!!)
Posted by Michael Cardiff Categories:
PS3 owners dealing with broken units have had some problems getting their consoles fixed. The reason? Well, it’s all plain as day for everyone to see in the PS3 Warranty Text:
(2) THE PRODUCT IS USED WITH PRODUCTS NOT SOLD OR LICENSED BY SCEA (INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, NON-LICENSED GAME ENHANCEMENT DEVICES, CONTROLLERS, ADAPTORS AND POWER SUPPLY DEVICES). YOU ASSUME ALL RISKS AND LIABILITIES ASSOCIATED WITH USE OF THIRD PARTY PRODUCTS.
In other words: if you didn’t use a PS3-branded or Sony-licensed HDMI cable when connecting up your PS3, you’ve just voided your warranty. This problem was first found be a user over in the AVS Forums who called Sony with a broken PS3. When he told them that he hooked up his console with generic component cables, they told him that his formerly-under-warranty repair would cost him $150. (Fortunately, Target was nicer to him and accepted it as a 90-day return). If you’ve connected your PS3 to your TV with something other than a Sony-branded or licensed cable, and you want to get anywhere with Sony customer service, we can only offer one piece of advice: LIE.
I can understand Sony not offering to repair consoles that are damaged by mod chips or hacks. But “controllers, adaptors, and power supply devices”? That just sounds like Sony is looking for any way it can to wriggle out of liability. Guess it’s time to start looking for the Sony seal of approval on every controller and cable you buy for the console…
