All Points Bulletin (APB) is a third-person action game from the creators of Crackdown, Real Time Worlds. “Focusing on ‘the three C’s’—creativity, conflict and celebrity” APB gives the player freedom to create anything they want.
Creating your own characters and cars are things we have done before in games like Oblivion and Forza, but APB pushes this feature like never before. When in character creation, standard options like gender, skin tone and other physical features are available for customization. But APB goes a little bit deeper and allows you to pick a hairstyle and how long it needs to be or even pick breast cup-sizes for the girls. Tattoos? They got those too. It’s paid for by the guv’mint and completely free of charge to anybody who wants to play it (as any good PR campaign would be), and the folks behind the game let me get some hands-on time with the newest incarnation, America’s Army 3, at GDC 2009 in San Francisco. Five Awesome Games You Can Play on the Cheap

Now that we’re over the holiday hump (i.e. every game imaginable being released at the same time, oh god, why do you do this to me), a lot of sites and publications have been putting together lists of games to look forward to in the new year. Me? Nuh-uh. I don’t have the cash for that. Fallout and Dead Space alone have depleted my gaming funds for a while (not to mention a certain 360 dying enough times for me to wish ill on its relatives), and if you’re like me, you want a cheap alternative until your funds recover. Hell, even if you don’t need it, you can’t pass up a quality gaming experience on the cheap, but being a penny-pinching bastard like myself tends to help heal those imaginary wounds. So, I’ve decided to put together a list of a few old-but-still-awesome games that you can get for slightly less than the cost of a night with your mom, though they’ll probably last far longer.
You may want to note that some of these games are older and may stutter and wobble and spurt blood if you’re running more than Windows XP, so you may want to check your compatibility before you plunk down the green to have them downloaded to your inferior operating system, muahaha. OCZ has introduced its 15.4-inch DIY (Do-It-Yourself) gaming notebook. Featuring an Intel Centrino 2 platform, the company promises “higher performance, advanced connectivity, and longer battery life.” The notebook also has ATI Raedon HD3650 integrated graphics, DirectX 10.1 compatibility, high definition surround sound and an integrated touchpad with scroll bar. Virtual Protestors Complain Over Second Life Price Hike

The r/t world isn’t the only place with housing problems. Some residents of Second Life were so upset at Linden Lab’s recently announced hike in their purchase and maintenance fees that about 800 protested on the virtual site with signs outside their SL office, some going as far as setting their avatars on fire. CEO Mark Kingdon claims that it will only be directed to select landowners, and will not apply to those on the regular mainland or private islands. Considering that there are about 8,000 less subscribers this year than last, we can understand their reasoning. Then again, you can always take up residence in another OpenSim neighborhood.

Fallout 3 Life-Sized Statue Up For Auction

Fallout 3 Comes To Steam For Preload

If you are anxiously awaiting the release of Fallout 3 and want to raise your level of anxiety a notch, you can pre-download Fallout 3 via Steam at this very moment. A few games have done this in the past, the most recent being Spore. Instead of going to the store and getting your copy of the game, you simply purchase the game online through Steam. Steam then allows you to download the game the moment you’ve paid for it, which will then unlock itself at 12:01 AM October 28th.
All of this is assuming you have a PC, and that this is where you plan on experiencing Fallout 3. If you have an Xbox 360 or PS3, you will have to wait for your local midnight launch party or until the morning of release day to call the game your very own.
