I don’t see the need to upgrade my current 360 to an Elite right now.  Engadget tested the out and said the graphics were hardly different at all.

I think it was a smart move by Microsoft to offer a different color option for the 360 line.  Black simply matches more media equipment than white.

As far as offering HDMI, there’s really no benefit for gaming over other existing HD cable options, but as far as ease of connection for those with HDMI-capable TVs, I can see why it’s now available.

Selling out initially was pretty much a foregone conclusion.  And initial allotments were small enough to guarantee that.  What will be more telling is long term sales, if it benefit Microsoft.  Only time will tell, and should it sell well, I would not be surprised to see either the Premium or Core eventually disappear.
